    Frequently asked questions

What is the formula for steel weight?

    Weight (kg) = D² × L ÷ 162, where D is the bar diameter in mm and L is the length in metres. For example, a 12 mm bar 12 m long weighs 12 × 12 × 12 ÷ 162 = 10.67 kg.

How many #4 bars are in one ton?

A #4 (½ inch, 12.7 mm) bar of 12 m weighs about 11.95 kg, so one ton (1,000 kg) is about 84 bars.

What is the length of one sariya bar?

The standard length in Pakistan is 12 metres, which is 39.37 feet (often called 40 feet).

Does steel grade change the weight?

No. Grade 40, 60, 72.5 and 75 bars of the same size weigh the same; the grade only tells you the strength.

Why is #4 called 12 mm?

A #4 bar is ½ inch (12.7 mm). It is sold as 12 mm, but the weight here uses 12.7 mm, the true size.
